San Diego

Gary had a conference last week in San Diego...and I got to fly out Friday to meet him for a long weekend. We had a blast. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency overlooking a marina in the San Diego Bay. Nice views from the 26th floor!

Saturday morning we decided to get some breakfast before hiking at Torrey Pines... and after a huge search we came across this little cafe. I'll have to update the city name but let me tell you...this was an awesome find! The food was FABULOUS! We were good and had huge omelets...the pastries...lord.

It looks pretty overcast... and it was ... but just for a while. We had hiked Torrey Pines and found a trail that took us down to the ocean. Nice!

We then it the aquarium at the University of California San Diego. They advertised "shark week" so I thought we were going to see lots of sharks. Nope... nice aquarium...but it was also a day camp and they had shark related activities for the kids.

Here is a lion fish.

And a big whale fountain....

Later, we shopped in LaJolla (great city) and ate dinner at "George's" which overlooked the LaJolla Bay. So nice...great food and views!!! Ahem...notice "our" street in LaJolla!!!

Sunday we got up...walked to a deli in downtown San Diego for breakfast (4 blocks from our hotel) and then toured the USS Midway!
3 hours later we still didn't see everything....but notice the cozy (?) sleeping arrangements the sailors have on board. Can you imagine a ship full of stinky men?
Pictures of the top deck!
After the Midway we took a ride to Catalina island and then drove to Imperial Beach. Here is a shot of the surfers. There is a huge pier at Imperial Beach which is covered with fishermen (and women) all day long!
My beach dude...unfortunately the lighting was not set right on the camera :-(
